The Bird Feeders are Up

Another step has been taken to make Darwin & Norman more like "home". The bird feeder holder which we had in Durand and at Rockton Avenue (Rockford) , is now "in the ground" and holding bird feeders at Darwin & Norman!! Thomas put it in the ground the other day and got the bird feeders filled and placed on it. Today, the birds found it. Several types of sparrows, chickadees, and finches gathered and ate and knocked seed on the ground. It was great to see this sight again. We're hoping that some cardinals find this feeding station. They are SO BEAUTIFUL to watch, especially in the winter.

We have begun the fall clean up around here. Today the zinnias which got zapped by the frost the other night, were taken out of the ground. Another season of blooms are gone with the hope of new growth and life in the spring. We have also cut back all the irises which took most of one day. I asked how many a "bazillion" was, so Thomas did count the number of irises we have....... 292!!! Now each of those has 3-5 leaf stems at least.......so I'd say that's pretty close to a "bazillion". It will be something if most of them bloom in the spring!! We can only hope......
