A sleep-over with Shelby

Last week when Shelby had to have the ultrasound, Riley spent the night with us because Shelby's appointment was early in the morning. Miss Shelby let me know that Riley got to sleep-over - when was she going to get to have a sleep-over. Tuesday night was the night. Riley's choir at church is done practicing for the season so they had a family potluck. I had bell choir practice so the plan was for Shelby to come home with me after the potluck/practice. For those of you not familiar with Aldersgate, there are glass windows between the worship area and the narthex. Our bell choir practices in the worship area. When Shelby (and Riley and Jenn and Scott) arrived, Shelby was pulling her overnight case. She came to the windows and waved, big, making sure that I saw her and her traveling case. As soon as our practice was over, Shelby came busting in very excited about coming home with me. As we were leaving the church, Shelby was pulling her suitcase. Riley said, "Shelby, I am going to miss you!" Shelby and Riley hugged and Shelby said to her sister, "Riley, I have you in my heart!" What a kid!!

Shelby is my popcorn eater. So she and Grammie snuggled in with popcorn and a movie, "The Incredibles." Shelby was very excited that she could stay up late because she had taken a nap in the afternoon. Well, Grammie's bedtime was fast approaching. After a little convincing, Shelby decided it was time to go to sleep about 10:30 p.m. One thing about sleeping with Miss Shelby......she is a snuggler. She was pretty much right next to me most of the night. When it thundered, she snuggled closer. Whenever she would wake up, she would throw her arm around me and kiss me or put her hands on my cheeks and kiss me. Precious moments!!

Breakfast was a special request of chocolate chip pancakes. From there we watched part of another movie while playing with the toys, played games, and "worked" outside. Shelby loves to pick up rocks. Well, Darwin and Norman is a great place for rocks. We are sure that there were small rocks dumped on here years ago as they continue to work up to the surface. So Shelby and her little yellow bucket picked up rocks for Grammie's "rock" walkway. Then it was lunch on the deck before heading back to Shelby's house.
